Fact #8 - Square Watermelons

In Japan they have square watermelons, they grow them in glass sqaure shaped cases. This way they are easier to store in your fridge or place things on top of them.

Although they look cool and are handy for easy storage they are exceptionally more expensive (10,000 yen or $85) compared to regular round watermelons ($15-20 in Japan).

Fact #7 - Rubix Madness!

A Rubix's cube has 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 possible configurations.
That's right, over 43 quintillion different possible configurations!

Fact #6 - Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia

What is 'Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia'?

No, it's not a fear of Hippos. It is infact a fear of LONG words. That's right. Long words. Usually words which are 6 or more letters long.

One of the unfortunate sufferers of this is Harold. B. Shumaker, who can no longer pronounce his last name without a tremor in his voice. I can see it now.. "S-Sh-Sh-Shu-Shumaker".

Fact #5 - WOAAH!

A man testicles can produce 10 MILLION new sperm cells, every single day.
That's enough to repopulate the whole entire world in only 6 months!

Fact #4 - Anatidaephobia

The fear that somehow, somewhere in the world, there is a duck watching you.

Fact #2 - Knuckles!

Did you know that cracking your knuckles doesn't actually affect your bones or cause arthritis? "TOLD YOU MUM!"
But, it can cause tissue damage in the affected joints. Damn.
When cracking your fingers or any other joint, the sound you hear are just gas bubbles bursting. When cracking any of your joints you are pulling the bones that are connected at the joint apart from each other. This process stimulates your tendons, relaxes your bones and loosens your joints.
When cracking your knuckles you are stretching the ligaments, too much stretching will cause damage.

So how is the 'popping' sound that we love so much created?

Your joints are held together by ligaments. These joints are surrounded by a liquid called synovial fluid. When you stretch your ligaments by pulling the bones apart to crack your knuckles a gas in the synovial fluid escapes and turns into a bubble. This process is called cavitation. Cavitation ends when the bubble eventually bursts, which creates the sound.

Chicken nuggets anyone?

After Mike the wonder chicken it brought me onto the strange fact, well not so much a fact, but interesting nonetheless.
When this lady went into McDonalds to purchase 2 happy meals for her kids, I really don't think she expected to have this lurking in the box waiting for her..

Luckily, the kids were more interested with the slide across the road then their meal so the mum decided to help herself to their nuggets..Boy was she in for a suprise..
Not noticing the odd looking chicken nugget she was bringing straight to her mouth her kid quickly yelled "STOP!"
She then froze and stared at the wierd chicken nugget staring back at her - a chicken head. That's right a chicken HEAD.

McDonalds offered them 2 more weeks of free meals (that's gotta be a joke right?). But, it was no use. The mother pressed charges and demanded $100,000 compensation.
You can view the strange nugget below. Check your food before you're plowing it into your mouth!

Fact #1 - Wonder Chicken!

Did you know that a chicken named 'Mike' lived for 18 months after his head was CUT-OFF?!
It was determined that the axe blade had missed the jugular vein and a blood clot had prevented Mike from bleeding to death!
